We've been informed that a lot of people are thinking that we are related to OMG A COW! Promotions.
We just want to make it perfectly clear that we are not in any way, shape or form, connected to them!

Now that's a load of my mind =D

To be honest, I was wondering.

Especially how you both seemed to appear at the same time, & because you guys suddenly lost a lot of the more pop-punk friendly gigs from your list, so I maybe assumed you'd split into 2, with you lot dealing with the ska-punk gigs.

Ta for clearing it up tho. MW :0)

No, we cancelled most of our Pop Punk shows because we now plan to concentrate, not souly, but mainly on Ska Punk and Hardcore Punk.

It was actually you that told us about this mate. On Monday night. Surprised you even remember seeing us :D haha

That's why people rip Chorlton so much. It's much easier to be moralistic when you're loading vegan cheese into the back of a Jeep.

Indeed, the grizzly is criminally ignored in these tired times.

Right, this is really confusing me. this is OMG! A COW'S terms and conditions for bands wanting to play a gig. It's seems very odd for a DIY promoter to lay the law down in this way. You have to pay them if you pull out within 7 days of a show no matter what the reason is and you have to sell tickets.
Does anybody else find it weird or just me? Would you sign up to play a show under these conditions? there's no way I would have gone along with that when I was in DFA.
i'm kind of interested know what other people's thoughts are on this.

OMG! A COW! Promotions

When working with us,

What we expect from you:

For all Music Box shows, you must sell a minimum of 20 tickets at £5 each to play that show.

For all Jilly's Rockworld shows, you must sell a minimum of 25 tickets at £6 each to play that show.

Please contact us if you become aware that you will not meet this mark, with a good 20 days advance of the show.

- You must come to the show and peform, regardless of whether you have sold the minimum amount of tickets, we have asked for.

- We expect the headliners of the show, to provide the a full backline, (THE BBC drum kit(1 rack tom, 1 floor tom, bass drum, two cymbal stands, hi-hat stand), and a Bass Amp).

- You must be 14 or over to play, or attend all of our events.

- If you cancel this gig for any reason within 7 days of the date of the gig you will be billed for the minimum amount of ticket sales required.

- You must respect the venue and not in any way deface, mark, destroy or in any other way damage its property, or the bill for such shall lie with you.

- You must not book another show within Two Weeks in the same city, either side of venue, unless first discussed and approved with us.

- You must be punctual and follow strict curfews, change-over times and sound-check times.

- You must work to promote your slot in the show. If acts do not work hard, gigs simply do not work. Your positon with OMG! A COW! Promotions

What you can expect from us

- We will provide you with tickets to pre-sell.

- We will try our best to provide you with anything, within reason to make you more comfortable.

- We will provide you with any information you desire as soon as possible.

- We will promote each show, as much as physically possible. This includes, Internet advertisement, Handing out flyers about Manchester City Centre

and putting up posters in music stores, and places, where music is influenced.

- If you qualify for payment, you will be paid at the end of the event at the amount of:

Example

£1 per ticket for selling 20 tickets upto 30,

£2 per ticket from 30 to 40,

£3 per ticket from 40 to 50,

£4 per ticket from 50 onwards.

- Anything damaged or stolen belonging to anyone at the venue throughout when we get there and when we leave, will not be held as our responsiblilty, and will not be paid for by us.

- We will never ask you to hand over any money, and do not require you to make up the difference should you not sell the minimum amount of tickets asked of you.

The minimum amount is set in order for the gig to work financially, not so we can make a large profit, we just want acts and all fans to have a great time, as we want to have a good time.

- Each act is entitled to 2 guest list spaces, this includes photographers and merch sellers.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this.

So i've heard. Seriously though, i'd be interested to see what everyone else thinks. I cant understand how a promoter can sit harmoniously in such a tight knit scene when they have what strikes me as a pretty hard faced "business model".

Yeah well it's an improvement on the first T&C they posted. They just copy and pasted the same T&C's off Vman Events website. LOL!

And please DO NOT get me to comment on Vman. haha.

Stuff like this is a total joke,it's basically a rebranding of pay to play.
Not only should promoters like this be boycotted I also thinks bands who agree to play shows with these sort of conditions should also be ignored.
It makes it so much harder for hard working promoters/bands/venues who are trying to create a sustainable network in which bands can perform.
If no bands play these sort of shows/people refuse to go to them it will be an end of this sort of nonsense.

To be fair, I haven't heard of any of the bands on OMG A Cow's upcoming gigs, so it's not really a boycott on my part. But yeah, Laffin sent round enough negative bulletins after the MIBL fiasco to put plenty of ska/punk bands off them I reckon.

Next Thursday had better be good Punk Panda guys, or we'll start slagging you lot off too :0p Hehe

it's not really promotion it's booknig a venue and finding a way to make a load of money out of the bands and getting them to do the real legwork.
