The goal here is to create a network of bands and promoters that are willing to put on and play Free gigs in the Manchester area. Too many promoters are far to interested in making a wad of cash out of talented unsigned bands making sure the members are left hung out to dry. Money is bull shit. The whole point of music and art in general is to make a difference, to pass on meanings and understandings and to get so wasted that the idea of being sick is holier-than-Jesus-Christ. Amen. No more bullshit. Music IS Free.

No, we're not.
It's just started, and only put on one gig so far, at the Baker. There's an upcoming gig at Fuel bar in Withington, on the 6th of Sept.

We've found a couple in Stockport, including possibly an alldayer at Bones skate park. Also some places in Manchester seem interested, but most are worried about covering basic costs, so it's important to get as many people as possible, and ensure they get their money through the bar, and things like that.

I'm pretty sure out of all the UK promoters I know, no-one is interested in making a wad of cash. Because it's impossible with DIY shows.

Sunday 24th October - The Max Levine Ensemble + ONSIND + WELL WISHER + PUDGE + Fashanu

Yeah, i wanted to say something like this. It kind of annoys me when I see people making a huge deal in their mission statement that WE'RE not about making money, we're not in it for kudos etc etc as more often that not it comes across as they're saying everyone else is, and that they're unique. The vast majority of people aren't in it for money but don't make a song and dance about it either. Any promoters that are in it for the wrong reasons usually get a public lynching on here (which only happens mayb e once every 18 months, thus proving that it's not something that's overly-prevalent at all).
Also, maybe it's time people stop instantly baulking at the idea of a promoter wanting to make money from their shows if that's what they want to do. If someone wants to take the bull by the horns and invest some serious time and thought into making shows profitable and viable then good luck to them. As long as all of the bands are well looked after and the audiences see a good show then what's the problem with that? Let's face it, the majority of us work shit jobs, for shit companies and make money from that, so if people have a chance to make a living from something they actually enjoy and do it in an ethical way then why not? If a good person can make a good living from it and take care of bands along the way, then it wouldn't bother me. Infact it would probably be a good thing.
